一首爱尔兰民谣
1600年由罗利.戴尔.欧卡汉所作曲,最初叫. 1911年,费德里克.魏舍利写了一首danny boy的歌词,认为与罗利.戴尔.欧卡汉所作的Londonderry Air曲调更吻合,于是把两者所结合,就有了这首流传至今的经典歌曲.

Declan Galbraith是英国的一位小歌手,他的首张专辑在英国畅销,英国小歌手Declan曾演唱过Walking In The Air收录在一张圣诞合辑Christmas Hits里 , 这首歌也有许多童声演唱过 , 但Declan演唱起来格外的高亢动人.他的《Carrickfergus》，刚开始凯尔特音乐的旋律很吸引人，再听一下Declan的声音，不可想像一个童声居然能唱出如此高亢又甜美的声音，都感觉有点天簌之声的味了!

丹尼男孩，那风笛的声音不断的呼唤着…，这首举世闻名的爱尔兰民谣「丹尼男孩」（Danny Boy），是任何一场爱尔兰音乐演唱会中，势必会被点唱的歌曲。这首曲子的作曲者为罗利．戴尔．欧卡汉（Rory Dall O'Cahan），写於1600年间。後来，费德里克．魏舍利（Frederick Edward Weatherly）在1913年将其填了「丹尼男孩」歌词，深受当时人们的喜爱，而流传至今，其歌词如下：

其实，上述「丹尼男孩」歌词，原本是费德里克．魏舍利於1911年所做的另一首歌曲的歌词，但并不流行，隔年他接到居住在美国的妹妹寄给他欧卡汉所做的歌谱，他发现这个曲子与他所填的「丹尼男孩」歌词相当契合，就将其合并，没想到因此大放异彩，亦是後来许多不同填词中最受欢迎的一首，「丹尼男孩」也因此成为爱尔兰最具代表性的民谣之一，与「夏日最後玫瑰」丶「强尼当兵去」同为爱尔兰最负盛名的三首民谣。
罗利．戴尔．欧卡汉当初写这首歌时，歌名为「伦敦德里小调」（Londonderry Air），亦有歌词，伦敦德里是爱尔兰的一个地名，与英国的首都伦敦无关，不可混淆，Air是咏唱调或小调之意。「伦敦德里小调」的填词其实亦相当优美，只是「丹尼男孩」的填词太受欢迎了，所以演唱者选择以「丹尼男孩」歌词唱的人比较多，其实二种歌词之意境是不分轩轾的。「伦敦德里小调」的英文歌词如下：

国内风潮唱片公司发行的「东方天使合唱团」演唱的「乘 着歌声的翅膀」，其中也包含了这首歌，他们选用的歌名是「伦敦德里小调」，而不是「丹尼男孩」，但是歌词并不是「Londonderry Air」的中文直译词，却写得非常的美，不输英文的歌词，可惜作者不详，中文歌词如下：（若以下列中文歌词清唱，可感受其美）

另外有一个叫汤姆斯·摩耳（Thomas Moore, 1770-1852）的人，在「丹尼男孩」填词之前亦针对此曲写过歌词，名为「轻柔的竖琴」（The Gentle Harp），只是较不流行，其英文歌词如下：

其实中文填词还有一首写得非常棒的，名为「秋夜吟」，这首歌词比上述中文的「伦敦德里小调」歌词还要动人，若在夜深人静时吟唱这首歌，会被其歌词感动而不觉潸然泪下，这首歌在早期的国小或国中音乐课中，是必唱的歌曲，为目前年轻人已较不熟悉，而这首歌的填词者亦不可考，相当可惜，其歌词如下：
秋夜吟
月亮当空，照射大地明亮如镜，
云淡风轻，秋高又气爽。
在这个优美撩人的秋夜里，
想起了遥远的故乡，家乡的母亲。
啊！母亲呀！我最爱的母亲，
您爱家乡，却更爱着我们，

「丹尼男孩」这首歌旋律的悠扬凄美，公认只有小提琴及男高音才可完全诠释出其动人的曲调，不论中英文歌词，细细聆听，皆有同感。
