SAN DIEGO--24's Jack Bauer may not cast spells, have superpowers, or be hand drawn, but he was represented at Comic-Con 2007 nonetheless. Above the busy show floor, the 24 panel was held with director Jon Cassar and executive producers Evan Katz, Manny Coto, and David Fury.

2:20:09--Jack Bauer's magic bag is discussed. They joke that only Jack Bauer could look walk around with a purse and still look cool. The bag is the size it is because the crew doesn’t know what the writers will say is in the bag until later. Kiefer actually picked the design of the bag.
2:22:17--An alternate ending was considered for the finale of season six that saw an old character coming back. In it, Bauer is walking along a cliff when he hears a voice. "Jack," says the voice. A figure walks out of the shadows and its Tony Almeida. "Jack, come with me, we have a lot to talk about." This is further evidence that Tony may still be alive.
2:23:45--"We're not doing anything on the DVD for between seasons," says Cassar to a disappointed crowd.
2:24:12--One fan compliments Fury's ability to write strong female characters, to which the boy's club immediately rails on him.
2:27:46--The panel recalls when Kiefer found out that there is a college-drinking game focusing on every time Jack says, "Dammit!" Sutherland allegedly improvised "Dammit" five times in a row in one scene and said, "Boy that’s going to be a great night when they do that one," referring to the soon to be drunken frat boys playing the 24 drinking game.

The seventh season of Fox's Emmy-winning "24" is facing another production delay.
The real-time drama starring Kiefer Sutherland that was scheduled to start filming Aug. 27, will now begin shooting Sept. 10 so that the writers can complete enough scripts for the new seasonlong plot.
Production start on 20th Century Fox TV/Imagine TV's "24" originally was pushed from late July-early August to Aug. 27 when the producers' original set-in-Africa story line fell through and they went back to the drawing board.
There has been only one new casting on the show so far -- Cherry Jones as the U.S. president -- with a couple of other deals at different stages.

"24" may be facing some unusual production delays, but the Fox drama is perking along nicely in the casting department.
Janeane Garofalo has been cast on the show as Janis Gold, a smart, acerbic systems analyst at the FBI.
And Fox has confirmed that "Entourage's" Rhys Coiro, who plays nutty director Billy Walsh on the Hollywood dramedy, has been cast on "24." Garofalo told Jam Showbiz that he'll play another FBI staffer who works with Gold.
Cherry Jones, who's mainly known for her stage work, has been cast as the president for the show's seventh season, and Fox has already announced said that the smart, frequently acerbic tech whiz Chloe O'Brian (Mary Lynn Rajskub) will return as well.
There's been a slight tweak there, executive producer David Fury noted. Now the plan is to bring Jack before a federal grand jury. "The change was due to the time of day the hearing would take place, and other story concerns. But the purpose is the same," Fury said.
Janis Gold will be assigned to the FBI team investigating the crisis befalling Jack Bauer, who will no longer be working for L.A.'s Counter Terrorism Unit. Yes, it's true: the fabled CTU set is gone.
Within the universe of the show, "CTU has been dismantled by a corrupt bureaucracy," Fury said. "Instead, we'll be focusing on FBI headquarters in Washington."
Executive producer Michael Loceff told a Seattle Fox affiliate that next year's story lines will be "smaller" and more "personal."
"You just can't go much bigger than that [threats from past seasons], unless you put a spacesuit on Jack Bauer and shoot him into orbit. Which you know, we may get there. but we're not going to be there yet," Loceff said.
Coto told TV Guide that the villain of the upcoming season is "not a Muslim terrorist. In fact, it's not a terrorist at all."
